Each day you miss an opportunity

Have you ever counted the number of opportunities you missed in life? Better not, it might be high. The same with organisations: they miss too many chances to get more clients, to improve their efficiency or just to save money.

Here are our top-3 obstacles for seizing more opportunities.

  1. Too big to start. We are overwhelmed by the mere thought about the effort a change might require. But does it always have to be “the one big thing”? Or is it an excuse to better not start anything at all?
  2. There are always other priorities. You are busy the whole day anyway, and the agenda is full up to next month, so why bother? Same with the organisation you work for: there are so many projects running, and they are all important.
  3. Uncertainty. It’s often the uncertainty about the first steps and the process that holds us back from seizing an opportunity. Think about it: should this be the ultimate reason to start or not start an initiative?

Next week we will discuss how to turn these challenges around and seize the opportunities that are around us, every day. The comment area is now open and you are welcome to post your experience with improvements or changes that should have been made but never happened.
