How inspiring are you (and your organization)?

One common trait of high-performing organizations is the superior commitment of their employees. Staff members are eager to contribute to the success of their company and achieve more at a faster pace—without being forced to do so.
Look at yourself: When are you most committed to what you do?
There are three vectors that all lead to the same goal:
- Mission, vision, and goals that are clear, simple, consistent, and inspiring. Each person can only contribute with full energy if he or she is inspired and the direction is clear. Ambiguity and lack of decisions kill commitment.
- Measurable and visible progress toward the accomplishment of objectives. Each of us wants to see and feel advancement toward the goals and the vision. People give up without perceived progress. Sound simple? Most organizations struggle with this.
- Success and appreciation. There must be visible success and honest appreciation for the contribution of each individual. It is important to show appreciation personally and honestly, not as a formal duty, or you risk people becoming cynical.
The trick is that all three elements are necessary.
The commitment of your people collapses immediately if one of them is missing.
The secret of your success as a leader is to master these dimensions continuously; then, your people will blossom under your leadership.
