How to Lower Performance
Fri, January 22, 2010 at 11:55 From our Friday noon memo #14:
Wouldn’t you agree that organisations do not run as efficiently as they could do? Even worse, sometimes you could think they discourage employees and alienate clients on purpose. So let’s turn our weekly memo around. You find here three tips to lower your organisation’s performance:
- Rely only on complex methodologies. Believe in the power of concepts instead of getting things done that are obvious and easy to handle. If clients complain refer them to your comprehensive 360° customer experience program, planned to show results in two years from now.
- Follow each new management trend. Implement new approaches at least once a year. Your employees will like the “dynamics” of your enterprise.
- Always set up large projects, even for little issues to be solved. By this means you surely keep many people busy and slow down decisions and execution.
I’m sure that many of you have more ideas to add. Click here to comment.
Back to good practices next Friday. Have a nice weekend.

Great twist on an important subject, Volkmar. The first point reminds me of something I read in Made to Stick.
Had John Kennedy talked in corporate babble, he might have said something like this when talking about his plan to send a man to the moon: "Our mission is to streamline functionalities across sectors to create synergies and enhance our lunar aerospace initiative."
Instead, he said, "Our mission to is put a man on the moon and bring him back safely ...". Clear and concrete.
Cheers!
John
