Business setup in Russia: What is really important

All businesses that intend to start in Russia face one commom challenge that is more important than any  business plan, strategy, or promising customer contact. This challenge is: to approach the right people at the right time with the right message using the best medium.

  1. The right people. In a country where business success is largely built on personal relationships it is essential to get in front of the people who can really bring you a step forward. Talking to wrong people can be a waste of time in the best case or it can simply minimize your chances of success.
  2. Timing. The balance between patience and speed is not easy to find when approaching people from an unknown cultural milieu. Yet this is critical for success of your project.
  3. The right message. One wrong word in a meeting can turn the positive start into a complete disaster withing seconds. Vice versa, appropriate words can turn a hopeless situation into a tremendous success.
  4. The best medium. Everything can go wrong when you approach an important person per email or with a non-appropriate wording. Choosing the right media for negotiations and information sharing are more important in Russia than in most other countries in the world.

Sounds scaring? Actually, the chances of success for each project increase dramatically with the support of a professional who helps you do the right steps at the right time.
